Exeter 1-0 Rotherham
Anthony Scully marked his Exeter debut with the only goal of the game in a 1-0 League Two win over Rotherham at St James Park.
The winger, whose Dad Tony had a productive 13-match loan spell with the Grecians in 2005, was only announced as a new signing of the morning of the game but settled a contest Exeter dominated shortly after half-time.
Exeter started well with Scully seeing a goal-bound shot blocked by Dom Iorfa, while Rotherham went close when Marvin Kaleta broke free down the right but his low cross was just too far in front of Paul Mullin.
Scully then put Taylor Perry through on goal but he lifted his shot over Rotherham goalkeeper Julian Eyestone and wide.
The deadlock was broken on 51 minutes after superb work by Charlie Cummins set George Birch free and his cross was turned in from close range by Scully.
Exeter continued to dominate with Josh Gordon's header saved by Eyestone, while Ethan Sutherland smashed a volley against the outside of the post with his first contribution after coming off the bench.
Rotherham had a chance deep into stoppage time to rescue a point but Mullin scuffed his shot wide of the near post.
