Game Thread: TCU Football vs. Arkansas State

The TCU Horned Frogs (1-1; 0-0 Big 12) wrap up its non-conference slate, hosting the Arkansas State Red Wolves (1-1; 0-0 Sun Belt) at home in Fort Worth's Amon G. Carter Stadium. This is the first game formally replacing the Battle for the Iron Skillet as the SMU-TCU rivalry gets indefinitely paused. Each squad has it's sole win over an FCS opponent and a loss to the only FBS opponent it has faced, each looking to move above .500 for the first time this season.

Arkansas State is coming off a win over West Georgia where its defense scored two touchdowns and the Red Wolves offense found the endzone twice by air and three times on the ground. QB Trey Owens had a tough outing in the opener vs. Memphis, throwing four interceptions in the loss to the Tigers, but bounced back nicely the next week by completing 76% of his passes. ASU has a few RBs that can get the job done on the ground, led by Kenyon Clay who has two scores on the season. Defensively, the Red Wolves are led by tackling machine Robert Stevens at linebacker. He already has 15 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and an interception this season and the TCU offense will need to know where he is on every play.

TCU took full advantage of its get-right opportunity against FCS Grambling State last week, bouncing back in a big way after falling flat vs. UNC in Ireland. QB Jaden Craig showed real connection with his TEs and aired it out all over the field for 391 yards and 4 TDs. The TCU defense picked up a pair of interceptions with Teon Parks returning one for 67 yards and a score.
