3 keys to victory for the Broncos against the Jaguars

The Denver Broncos need to follow these three keys to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.

· 466 words

Last December, the Denver Broncos had won 11 games in a row. Then the Jacksonville Jaguars came to Denver and dealt them a 34-20 loss.

The loss temporarily threw the Broncos off their playoff track, but the team ultimately did enough to become the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Despite a near trip to Super Bowl LX, the Broncos have not forgotten that loss to the Jaguars, or the words from their coach , Liam Coen, that followed.

The Broncos will be looking to get a measure of revenge on Sunday while simultaneously bouncing back from an ugly loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last Monday night. That makes this a big early-season game for the Broncos and to finish on the right side of the result, these three factors will be key.

3 keys to victory for Broncos vs. Jaguars in Week 2

In order for the Broncos to be successful against Jacksonville, they'll need to immediately clean up what they could not do against Kansas City.

The Chiefs rushed for 220 yards on Monday night, including a career-high 173 from Kenneth Walker . That can't come even close to happening in this game. Much of that was due to the Broncos putting forth perhaps the worst tackling performance in league history.

Denver will need to be much better and much more disciplined in this game. That starts with coming out with much more energy than they did on Monday and using the home crowd to set the tone in this game.

The Jaguars are going to want to work the middle of the field against Denver's defense, using slot receiver Parker Washington to make big plays in the passing game. Against the Broncos last December, Washington posted 145 yards and a touchdown on six catches.

Ja'Quan McMillian will need to do what he can to limit Washington's playmaking ability and force Trevor Lawrence to try and throw to the boundaries, where Pat Surtain II and Riley Moss will be matched up against the duo of Brian Thomas Jr. and Jakobi Meyers . PS2 will take one of those guys out of the game and the Broncos should be willing to take their chances with Moss against the other.

Bo Nix had his first pass attempt of the season intercepted by the Chiefs. Aside from the ensuing drive after the Chiefs' first score, Nix had an incredibly bad game, arguably the worst of his young NFL career.

Davis Webb needs to look to get Nix going quickly in this game, setting up some easy throws for him in order to get him into a nice rhythm before taking some shots against a Jacksonville defense that can be susceptible to giving up some big plays.
