Highlights, MVP, and Twitter reactions to Kentucky’s historic win vs. No. 9 Texas A&M

Kentucky Football traveled to College Station for a matchup with the No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies , with more on the line than a simple win or loss. Remaining competitive for four quarters was something every UK supporter was eager to see on Saturday afternoon.

Beating Texas A&M on the road in front of 102,000 screaming fans is a tall task for any program — let alone a first‑year head coach in just his third game ever.

That said, a stellar first-half performance last week against a top-10 Alabama team ignited optimism within the BBN and proved Stein's squad can play with anyone.

Much like last week, the Cats immediately jumped at the opportunity to show they can compete against a top‑tier SEC opponent. Two incredible defensive plays by Sam Greene allowed the defense to maintain control in a hostile environment for much of the first half. Credit to the Cats for coming out with enough juice to shake the A&M faithful.

It took the Aggies nearly 25 minutes to put points on the board on a 2-yard touchdown run. Kentucky responded with a score of their own, knotting it up 7-7 at the half.

Will Stein must have pressed all the right buttons in the locker room because the third quarter belonged to Kentucky. The Cats came out and dominated both sides of the ball, leaving patrons at Kyle Field stunned.

By the time the onslaught was complete, UK would enter the fourth quarter with a commanding 28-7 lead. That 15-minute stretch of football was about as good as it gets and will be remembered fondly.

The Aggies tried their best to mount a late comeback, but Kentucky was just too physical and simply outmatched A&M in every facet of the contest. At many times in the second half, UK fans found themselves grinning ear-to-ear and/or texting friends that they couldn't believe it was happening.

According to UK statistician Corey Price, this was Kentucky's second-largest margin of victory over a top-10 program in the modern era, as the last one came against Vanderbilt in 1947.

In addition, Will Stein becomes the first Kentucky Football coach to win a road game vs. a top-25 team in his first season at the school.

Despite a huge win over a top-10 team on the road, this was not an easy game to select a single player for MVP. The Cats managed to spread out the offensive production, and players like Sam Greene made their case to get the nod defensively. Heck, even special teams got in on the action with Adam Zouagui bouncing in an important 52-yard field goal late in the game.

But at the end of the day, it was UK quarterback Kenny Minchey who rose to the occasion and led his team to victory against a top-10 team in front of 102,000 hostile fans in College Station. It didn't take the Notre Dame transfer long to secure a signature win as a starting QB. Kentucky Football fans know all too well that convincing SEC road wins like we saw today are uncommon, making the win over the Aggies even more memorable.

Minchey's second-half execution was textbook and ensured his team never wavered after building a large lead. His final stats didn't jump off the page, but 252 yards and two touchdowns were more than enough to get the job done on the road.

If Kenny Minchey can remain poised like he did today, the sky could be the limit for this offense.
