Saturday Seacoast Roundup: PCA volleyball sweeps tri-match, more results

DOVER — The Portsmouth Christian Academy volleyball team extended its unbeaten start to the season by sweeping a Division III tri-match Saturday, defeating Inter-Lakes and Sunapee.

The Eagles opened the day with a 3-1 victory over Inter-Lakes by scores of 25-15, 19-25, 25-18 and 25-21. Dylan Anderson led the offense with 14 kills, 11 digs and two blocks, while Molly Marquis added 10 kills, six aces and 13 digs. Bea Monahan recorded 24 assists, three aces and 13 digs, and Caroline Braman chipped in seven kills, two aces and seven digs.

PCA then completed the sweep with a 3-0 win over Sunapee, taking the sets 25-14, 25-8 and 25-13. Marquis paced the Eagles with five kills, seven aces and six digs. Monahan contributed 17 assists, six aces and five digs, while Dylan Anderson and Sawyer Yim each had five kills. Yim also added four aces and six digs, and Braman finished with four kills, two aces and two blocks.

The Eagles improved to 6-0 and will host Hillsboro-Deering on Wednesday.

WEARE — Paige Demers led Somersworth with nine kills and reached a milestone in the victory, recording her 219th career block to set a school record.

Individual set scores were 25-15, 25-17 and 25-10.

Emily Runions and Abby Brown both had six kills for Somersworth (6-0), while Kylie Pettengill had 22 assists, and Gishella Lumingkewas had 17 service points.

The win improved Somersworth to 5-0 on the season.

EPPING - Gavin McKenna and Sawyer Rabb each scored a goal for Newmarket in its Division IV contest.

SOMERSWORTH - The Hilltoppers, who were led by Tyler Runions, fell to 2-5 on the season after this Division IV loss.

CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine — Drew Trenholm scored York's one goal in this Class B South loss. Cape Elizabeth on Saturday.

Chris Adams and Max Hayward each scored a goal for Cape Elizabeth.
