Vice President Vance heads to Michigan on Thursday as Republicans look to gain ground in a competitive Senate race with less than three weeks until the midterm elections.

Vance is expected to rally support for former Rep. Mike Rogers (R), who is facing Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in the race to replace retiring Sen. Gary Peters (D).

The visit comes as Republicans fight to maintain their congressional majorities, with President Trump also crisscrossing the country to boost voter turnout. The president and vice president both stopped in neighboring Ohio this week to campaign for incumbent Sen. Jon Husted (R) and GOP gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

The event, in Monroe County, Mich., is scheduled to begin at 1:20 p.m. EDT.

Vance’s remarks are set for 4:25 p.m., after he sits down with CBS News for a taped town hall.
