Argentina gifts Lionel Messi special jersey for final retirement match

A few weeks ago, soccer legend and World Cup-winning captain Lionel Messi announced his goodbye to international soccer . After representing his country for almost 207 games, Messi is now all set to don the blue and white jersey for one final time.

Messi, 39, will play his last international match against West African nation Benin on Oct. 6, 2026. Now, weeks ahead of the scheduled match, we know what Messi is going to wear at that special event.

Messi recently shared a special Adidas Argentina jersey on his Instagram account ahead of his farewell game next month. "Last game… A shirt for life," he wrote as the video's caption. "One last match… A jersey for a lifetime."

The new special jersey will keep Argentina's famous sky blue and white stripe colours, while Adidas has added a few special touches for Messi's retirement. His name, Messi, and the iconic No. 10 appear in gold on the back, with the Sun of May positioned above his name. The jersey also sports a distinctive pattern across the back and the number 10 digit.

The unique design carries on Adidas' tribute to the closing chapter of Messi's international journey . The German sportswear brand has been linked with Messi for twenty years and launched its El Ultimo Tango collection before the 2026 FIFA World Cup earlier this year.
