Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson left Sunday's game with an ankle injury and was replaced at the start of the second half by backup Tyler Huntley.

Jackson appeared to sustain the injury on a sack late in the first half against the Tennessee Titans, and Huntley took the field to lead Baltimore's offense to start the second. The Ravens officially ruled Jackson as questionable to return with an ankle injury.

Titans defensive end Jermaine Johnson chased Jackson down from behind for a sack on the final offensive play of the first half. Jackson was able to stand up from the tackle and walk off the field. It wasn't apparent in the moment that he'd sustained an injury.

But slow-motion replay showed that Jackson's left ankle got caught up and twisted under Johnson's body as Johnson sacked him from behind. And Jackson wasn't able to return to the field to start the third quarter.

The severity and precise nature of Jackson's injury weren't initially clear. Baltimore led 24-7 when Huntley took over at quarterback, reducing pressure on Baltimore's offense with its two-time MVP quarterback on the sideline.

Jackson off to another MVP-like start to the season

Baltimore entered Sunday with a chance to join the Cleveland Browns at 3-1 atop the AFC North. Jackson, of course, is a significant piece of Baltimore's hopes in the division and beyond. He was off to another strong start to his season prior to Sunday's injury.

Jackson entered Sunday's game having completed 69.7% of his passes for 248.3 yards per game with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. He led the NFL in both yards per attempt (9.8) and yards per completion (14.1). He'd added 124 yards (7.3 ypa) and 1 touchdown on the ground.

Jackson completed 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns in the first half against the Titans.

The Ravens are certainly hoping that Jackson's injury won't linger. Baltimore has upcoming games against the Falcons, Browns, Bengals, Bills and Jaguars.
