Jayden Daniels 'Full Go' for Commanders vs. Giants After Elbow Injury Recovery, OC Blough Says
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is not expected to have any limitations when making his Sunday return from the dislocated left elbow he suffered three weeks ago.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is not expected to have any limitations when making his Sunday return from the dislocated left elbow he suffered three weeks ago.
Daniels is "full go" ahead of the Commanders' Week 5 matchup against the visiting New York Giants, offensive coordinator David Blough told reporters on Thursday.
Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Monday he was expecting Daniels to start Sunday against the Giants.
Daniels has been sidelined for two games after suffering his elbow injury Sept. 20 during a Week 2 matchup at the Dallas Cowboys.
The quarterback played just seven games last season in part thanks to recurring issues with his left elbow, which he dislocated in Week 9 of the 2025 campaign.
The Commanders quarterback sat out three games before returning for Week 14. He took 39 more snaps before aggravating the same elbow and sitting out the rest of the season.
Commanders general manager Adam Peters said after Daniels' latest left elbow injury the team was not considering surgery or an IR stint for the quarterback.
ESPN's Adam Schefter later reported it sounds like Daniels is "probably" going to need surgery over the offseason but is delaying the procedure in order to remain available this season.
Daniels told reporters Wednesday he considers the brace he will be wearing over his left elbow to be "kind of a part of me now."
He had previously said the brace is different than the version he wore in his Week 14 return last season because it does not allow him to fully extend his left arm.
"I'm gonna embrace it. I'm gonna embrace the brace, not really worry too much about it," Daniels said Wednesday.
The Commanders are waiting for more injury updates that will determine which offensive linemen will be tasked with protecting Daniels. Sam Cosmi and Nick Allegretti were both out last week and limited in Wednesday's practice.
Quinn said earlier this week he was "hopeful" Cosmi could soon return from his concussion. Bringing back the starting right guard could take some pressure off Daniels by boosting the Commanders' run game, which has not totaled more than 100 rushing yards in a contest since Week 2.
The Commanders (1-3) and Giants (3-1) are set to kick off Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in Landover, Maryland.
