Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel will continue to call plays despite the offense's struggles during an 0-6 start to the 2026 season.
"We're very confident in Mike and his talent, work ethic, and ability," Harbaugh added . "And continue to be."

Harbaugh previously said he would be examining the offense during the team's bye week.
"We're looking into everything at this point, and that process is ongoing," he told reporters on Oct. 19. "Particularly offensively, scoring more points, the different multiple situational ways we need to play more complimentary football."
The Chargers currently rank 28th in passing (168.2 YPG), 13th in rushing (119 YPG) and 32nd in the NFL in scoring (15 PPG). Quarterback Justin Herbert is having a brutal season, throwing for 1,141 yards, five touchdowns and eight interceptions while taking 21 sacks and completing just 59.4 percent of his passes. It's been a massive disappointment.
There were some questions after McDaniel's hiring about how his offensive scheme might blend with Harbaugh's traditional approach to that side of the ball, but mostly excitement. Thus far, however, the combination has not proven to be fruitful.
How much longer McDaniel will keep his play-calling role if the losses continue to stack after the bye remains to be seen. For now, however, Harbaugh isn't making any sweeping changes in that regard.
