Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS television analyst Tony Romo was disqualified from the final round of a Korn Ferry pre-qualifier tournament on Oct. 2, the same day he parted ways with CBS over his July OWI arrest.

Romo, who was attempting to make the cut for the Korn Ferry Tour, was accused of signing his score card with the wrong scores on two holes , per Golf.com.

Romo reportedly signed for a 4 on 16 and a 4 on 17 on his own scorecard. Problem was, his marker, Brandon Rice, had Romo marked down for a 4 on 16 and a 5 on 17. And when another pro reviewed Romo's score, that pro believed Romo actually shot a 5 and a 5.

When contacted, Romo reportedly took responsibility for the error. Since he signed for a lower score than he should have received, Romo was automatically disqualified from the event. He did not perform well enough to make the cut on the final day of the pre-qualifier, so the disqualification didn't affect his outcome.

PGA Tour rules official Rob Keller — who spoke to Romo over the phone about the violation — said a number of factors may have resulted in the error. In addition to Romo likely being frustrated over his play, his trio was operating at too slow a pace, resulting in the players being put on a clock.

The rushed nature of their play, combined with Romo's frustration and inability to inch closer to the cutline, likely resulted in the mistake, Keller told Golf.com.

Throughout his NFL career, Romo also established himself as a talented amateur golfer. He's attempted to qualify for a number of professional events over the years and won a celebrity event in 2018.

Following his NFL career, Romo became an analyst with CBS. He initially received high marks for his abilities as a broadcaster. Romo's rise eventually resulted in him becoming the top color commentator for CBS.

But that came to a halt in July, when Romo was arrested for OWI (operating while intoxicated) after a golf event in Wisconsin.

CBS put him on leave a few days later and left his status undetermined until months later, when the network and Romo mutually agreed to split .
