Titans 'Fully Committed' to Cam Ward Despite 'Rough' Week 1 vs. Jets, Robert Saleh Says

Tennessee Titans coach Robert Saleh expressed faith in quarterback Cam Ward's ability to bounce back from his accuracy issues in a Week 1 loss to the New York Jets.

"We're fully committed to Cam because we believe in him," Saleh told ESPN's Turron Davenport . "You've got to let these young men grow.

"You would hate to be on the other side of it where you give up on a young man, and he goes to another team, and he wins a Super Bowl. We believe he has the right mindset, and we're going to give him every opportunity to grow."

Saleh previously admitted Ward had a "rough" outing in last Sunday's 23-10 season-opening loss to the Titans. Ward struggled under pressure while completing 19 of 32 pass attempts for 140 yards, and his one passing touchdown came late in the fourth quarter.

The Titans coach also said Ward has been "very receptive" about making adjustments to his game heading into Week 2.

"He's going to get better," Saleh told reporters earlier this week, before adding Ward could be helped by teammates and coaches also improving their game.

"To say he's going in the wrong direction, I don't think that'd be fair," Saleh said. "He's a young kid."

Ward and the Titans are preparing this week to face the Philadelphia Eagles, who are coming off a Week 1 victory in which they held Washington Commanders quarter Jayden Daniels to 164 passing yards.

Saleh will hope whatever mid-week adjustments his coaching staff is working on with Ward can make a difference as the second-year quarterback gears up to take on the Eagles defense this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. in Nashville.
