Philadelphia Eagles veteran quarterback Andy Dalton is facing consequences for his mistake in last week's loss to the Chicago Bears.

After his lone throw of the game resulted in an interception at the goal line, Dalton was demoted to Philadelphia's QB3 behind Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee for Sunday's matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Hurts had driven Philadelphia deep into Chicago territory midway through the second quarter before being pulled from the field to be checked for a concussion following a late hit by Bears linebacker D'Marco Jackson. After Dalton took over, the Eagles got down to Chicago's 2-yard line, but he fired a pass to the back of the end zone on third-and-goal that was picked off by Bears rookie safety Dillon Thieneman.

Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion took the blame for Dalton's interception, telling reporters on Thursday, "Obviously, with the outcome, it's one certainly I wish I could have back if I could do it over again. It was a call that we felt confident in throughout the week. We had a good week's worth of practice. It's something Andy has banked reps on, so I felt like it was something he could execute."

A 16-year veteran, Dalton was traded to the Eagles from the Carolina Panthers this past offseason. He competed with McKee for the backup role behind Hurts throughout training camp, and he surprisingly beat out the 26-year-old for the job.

After losing his position to McKee entering Week 4, Dalton will continue to provide veteran guidance as the Eagles try to return to title contention this season.
