Deal agreed, midfielder set to return to Liverpool after four years

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign a midfielder who left the club four years ago.

Andoni Iraola has had a difficult start to life at Anfield. Most supporters will acknowledge that his job has not been made any easier by the squad he inherited.

It's a team that is very much all over the place in terms of balance.

Richard Hughes has left him with four wingers who prefer to play on the left side of the attack and none who prefer to play on the right.

Iraola also has just three senior midfield options, and none of them when playing together really fit into his philosophy. Trey Nyoni could offer that balance with Dominik Szoboszlai alongside him. However, Nyoni is young and inexperienced.

Liverpool's midfield solution is obvious

Having lost Curtis Jones in the summer window, there was an expectation that Liverpool would replace the academy graduate who departed for Inter Milan .

Ultimately, in the coming months that will need to change.

Liverpool can't do anything now until the January window. However, it's obvious that the profiles in the midfield need to change, that is the only way the Reds can solve their midfield conundrum.

And the perfect player is already out there. Lamine Camara was subject of interest from Liverpool and he continues to be monitored by the Reds.

January will present Liverpool with the perfect opportunity to bring the Senegalese international to Anfield.

Midfielder returns to Liverpool after four years

The Reds did sign a midfielder in the end. Liverpool have confirmed the arrival of Patrik Farkas, in an exciting move.

The Hungarian U19 international spent two years at the club between 2020 and 2022 playing alongside the likes of Keyrol Figueroa, Jayden Danns and Wellity Lucky.

Ultimately, he left Liverpool in 2022 to join Blackburn Rovers, where he came back to haunt the Reds scoring against Liverpool at U18 level.

However, he has now agreed a move to return to the Reds and his boyhood club after four years.

Farkas will join his younger brother Erik and three other Hungarians on the books including Dominik Szoboszlai, Milos Kerkez and Armin Pecsi.
