Has LSU already put the Ole Miss loss behind them?
The Tigers have responded with back-to-back dominant wins. Have they officially moved past their first loss?
There's no question that LSU's first loss of the Lane Kiffin era carried some weight.
When the Tigers fell 32-24 to Ole Miss and dropped their record to 2-1, there were plenty of questions about how they would respond. Two weeks later, it is becoming easier to believe LSU has put that loss behind them.
The Tigers have responded with back-to-back dominant victories, first beating No. 23 Texas A&M 35-6 before dismantling McNeese 63-14. LSU has now scored 98 points across its last two games while allowing just 20.
The Texas A&M game is the more important part of the equation.
LSU did not simply beat the Aggies. They dominated a ranked SEC opponent on both sides of the football.
Obviously, LSU was expected to win the game comfortably, but the Tigers did exactly what they were supposed to do. They scored 63 points, gained 731 yards and set a school record with 101 offensive plays.
That does not erase what happened against Ole Miss and what still needs to be cleaned up.
Although it does make the loss feel less concerning than it did two weeks ago.
LSU is now 4-1 and has another SEC game coming up at Kentucky. The Tigers have already shown they can respond to adversity, and that could become one of the more important traits of this team as the schedule gets tougher.
The real test is whether LSU can carry this momentum into conference play.
For now, though, it is fair to wonder if the Ole Miss loss was simply a bad night rather than a sign of what this team will ultimately become under Kiffin.
