The Penguins built a 5-1 lead last night in their home opener against Montreal, which they squandered away but managed to win the game in overtime.

"I think the fact that we found a way to get the extra point in overtime, especially with those last couple of minutes, you're not going into overtime with the best feeling," Head Coach Dan Muse said. "But they stuck with it. We found a way. We got the two points. We got plenty that we can look at now that we know we got to fix, and I'm confident that this group will work to correct those things."

There's certainly a lot to correct after a night that featured a lot of similarities to many a game last year where the Pens would blow multi-goal third period leads. Last season that often ended up in a shootout loss, Tommy Novak was able to prevent that by scoring in overtime.

Ben Kindel and Andrei Kuzmenko made their season debuts last night. Kindel scored a power play goal. Elmer Soderblom and Ville Koivunen came out of the lineup to make way for the new players.

"I think any game you're going to have things that you are going to look back on," Muse said. "Even at Philly, like, you're going to look back, there's still things to clean up. There's more things to clean up after tonight, for sure."

"Even throughout the game, with the chances that we're giving up there, some breakaways – Arty had to make some massive saves, especially early in the game. We got to clean it up. And so, that's something that we went into this year knowing that we have to."

There will be plenty of chances upcoming to clean those issues up, the Penguins play four times in the next week, starting with a game tomorrow night at home against Winnipeg.
