One would think the Red Wings moved their base of operations 61 miles northwest to Hell (Michigan) based on the news fans have received to start the season.

Dylan Larkin is still here, and injured, but wants out.

Marco Kasper is injured after being the most electric part of the Red Wings first game.

And now, according to Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman, Simon Edvinsson, who went back to Sweden after not getting a new contract after Red Wings training camp, is now looking to book a return flight somewhere other than Detroit.

Friedman did qualify the information from the report by saying that neither the Red Wings or Edvinsson's agent were speaking on the matter. However, the sense he was getting from other teams around the league was that the big bodied Swedish blueliner has grown frustrated with Detroit.

Detroit for the moment is filling in his spot with the smallest of their remaining Swedish defenseman, Albert Johansson. However, losing the big Swede would be another blow to a Detroit team that simply cannot afford to lose his production.

The Red Wings were shut out in their home opener, and while their head coach is hoping that a heavier, more aggressive checking game will help them get in the o-zone, they'll still need help getting pucks on net. Losing a 25+ point shutdown pairing defenseman is a good way to find your team playing on their back foot on a night to night basis.

Three quick news-bites from yesterday, including more details on Kasper's injury.

Former Grand Rapids Griffins netminder and Red Wings first round pick Sebastian Cossa got his first NHL start last night with the Utah Mammoth. The Mammoth beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1, with Cossa stopping 17-of-18 for the night.

The Red Wings traded Cossa to Utah for a 2026 first round draft pick, which they used to select forward JP Hurlbert. Hurlbert also had a big night in his debut for a new team, scoring the University of Michigan's first goal of the season on Oct. 2.
