Brighton & Hove Albion 5 - 1 Charlton Athletic FT

Kiko Seike scored twice as Brighton defeated Charlton to secure their first win of the season in the Women's Super League.

Charlton, who won promotion from the Championship last season, had only scored once in their opening four league games, losing all of them.

However, the visitors took a third-minute lead when Cassandra Korhonen reacted quickest to score the rebound after her first attempt had been saved by home goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.

But the Seagulls quickly took control of the game and scored a 26th-minute equaliser when Olivia Garcia got to the byline and pulled the ball back for Seike to score.

Brighton took the lead just before half time with a similar goal to their first. Garcia was again the provider, with former England international Fran Kirby applying the finish.

Any hope of a Charlton fightback ended in the 54th minute when Seike grabbed her second of the afternoon, firing a loose ball home from inside the penalty area.

Brighton scored again late on when Maisie Symonds got a slight touch on Marisa Olislagers' right-wing corner and Gabby George made it 5-1, heading in from close range deep into added on time.

Charlton remain the only WSL side to have zero points, with five losses from their opening five games.

They are also only the third team in WSL history to be beaten in all of their first five matches. Yeovil Town lost seven in a row in 2017 and Leicester City began the 2021-22 campaign with nine successive defeats.
