Ohio State vs Iowa sets mark for ESPN College GameDay viewership
According to ESPN public relations, the Ohio State vs. Iowa ESPN College GameDay was the most-watched October episode ever.
Ohio State seems to always turn on television sets, but when you marry that with ESPN coming to town with its popular College GameDay show, plus a location that hasn't seen the crew in 30 years, well, you have something special, apparently. We also can't forget that the celebrity guest picker was Caitlin Clark, one of the most beloved athletes of our time and a former Iowa women's basketball superstar.
According to ESPN public relations, the College Game Day episode originating from Iowa City was the most-watched this season, and the most-watched October episode since the popular pre-game telecast started coming to our television sets on location in 1993. It was also the third most-watched regular season episode of all time and had a whopping 3.7 million viewers during the last hour.
For those who like to rail on College GameDay, the pregame program is blowing away Fox's Big Noon Kickoff and setting records. We like Urban Meyer and Fox as well, but it's not close right now. College GameDay's next stop is Tuscaloosa for Alabama vs. Georgia .
