Cena Explains Why He Won't Release Heel Theme Song

After previously revealing that he had a heel theme song prepared for a planned heel turn back in 2012, John Cena explained recently why that song will never see the light of day.

During a Q&A session at Fan Expo Canada (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), Cena made it clear that he never intends to make his "Fear My Name" theme song public:

"Nah. No, no, not at all," Cena said. "Probably for personal reasons. This is a professional way of saying I don't think it was meant to see the light of day anyway. Some things I've learned over the years—some things and some ideas can stay mine, and that's okay."

Cena expanded on his decision by suggesting that he doesn't want fans fantasizing over how the heel turn might have gone had it actually happened, saying, "The reason I don't want it to get released is because y'all will spin a narrative in your head of what could have been. It wasn't. What we had was what we had."

Back in 2024, Cena appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet (h/t M. Gomez of Cageside Seats) and spilled the beans about the heel turn that was being discussed ahead of his match against The Rock at WrestleMania 28 in 2012.

During that interview, Cena divulged that he had a theme song ready to go in case the turn happened, along with singlets, robes and wrestling boots.

It ultimately didn't come to fruition, but Cena did turn heel years later when he attacked Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber 2025.

However, rather than introducing a new theme song and gear, Cena essentially kept his presentation the same, leaving fans to wonder how things would have looked had he changed everything up instead.

After the former Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods debuted in AEW at All In on Sunday as Kofi and Austin Creed, former New Day teammate Big E commented on the New Level's AEW arrival.

In response to a comment about London on one of his Instagram posts, Big E wrote, "If you're two living legends that are undervalued, sometimes you have to go to London!"

That was a clear reference to Kofi and Creed, who showed up at All In, which was held in front of a large crowd at Wembley Stadium in London.

Rechristened the New Level after being the New Day with Big E in WWE, Kofi and Creed were the surprise partners for Swerve Strickland in a Trios Roulette Royale for the AEW World Trios Championships.

The New Level and Swerve won the match, making Kofi and Creed the first wrestlers in AEW history to win a championship on the same day they debuted for the company.

New Day had been a staple in WWE since 2014, and both Kofi and Creed were with the promotion even longer than that.

However, the wrestling world was shocked in May when Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reported that Kofi and Creed had mutually agreed to part ways with WWE.

It was later reported by Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlePurists ) that Kofi and Creed refused a pay cut, which resulted in their departure.

Big E's "undervalued" comment seemed to be referencing that report, as Kofi and Creed decided to bet on themselves by leaving the familiar surroundings of WWE for AEW.

Meanwhile, Big E is now New Day's last remaining link to WWE, as he primarily works on the pre-show and post-show premium live event panels due to a serious neck injury that has rendered him unable to wrestle since 2022.

Owens Reportedly Believed to Have Avoided Injury

Despite concerns about a potential injury, Kevin Owens reportedly may have escaped a recent WWE live event none the worse for wear.

On Sunday, Owens faced and defeated The Miz at a WWE live event, which was held at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina.

During the show, Kevin Bilodeau of Live 5 News in Charleston took to X to post a video of Owens limping down the ramp and toward the backstage area:

That led to speculation that KO suffered a legitimate injury, but PWInsider.com (h/t Derek Holloway of Ringside News) is now reporting that some of the wrestlers who were at the show believe Owens was just selling rather than actually being hurt.

PWInsider.com did note, however, that it isn't yet known for certain if that is truly the case.

Owens only recently returned from a neck injury that required surgery and kept him out of action for about a year and a half.

He made his surprise return at SummerSlam, winning a Fatal 4-Way match to become No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship.

Although Owens went on to lose his title match against CM Punk due to interference from Sami Zayn, he is still very much in the WWE Championship hunt on SmackDown.
