Purdue football names 6 captains for 2026 season
The Boilermakers had a seldom-used transfer last season who is now projected to start, and earned captain status.
WEST LAFAYETTE — A season ago, Jude McCoskey was a seldom-used transfer, available in Purdue football 's jumbo package offensive set.
Fast-forward one year under a new offensive line coach, and McCoskey enters Friday's season opener against his hometown team and former school as one of six Boilermaker captains.
McCoskey, Purdue's projected starting right tackle, joins receiver De'Nylon Morrissette and quarterback Ryan Browne , a captain for the second straight season , as leaders of the offense.
Morrissette missed last season with an ankle injury , and McCoskey totaled just 33 snaps on the offensive line, while Browne started all 12 games at quarterback. Morrissette recorded 11 catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns for Purdue in 2024 after transferring following two seasons at Georgia.
They join defensive captains linebacker Charles Correa , cornerback Hudauri Hines, and defensive tackle Curt Neal, a transfer from Illinois. Correa and Hines are returning starters. Correa's 96 tackles last season are the most among Purdue returnees.
