Below is a list of nine nominees from seven coverage area schools, listed in alphabetical order by school.

Tefft had three goals as the Eddies posted a pair of wins over Kalamazoo Central 4-0 and Gull Lake 1-0 in the David Ni Memorial Westside Shootout in Kalamazoo Aug. 29 to move to 5-1-0.

The junior had a goal in regulation time and another in the PK shootout period as the Class 3A No. 1 ranked and undefeated RedHawks beat Northridge to open Northern Lakes Conference play.

Nelson tallied the lone goal of the contest as the Raiders blanked Goshen 1-0 in its Northern Lakes Conference opener.

Steele totaled 40 kills and 32 digs as the Raiders went 4-0 with wins over Brandywine, North Judson, Fort Wayne Snider and Hanover Central to win its own invitational championship.

Josiah Maxwell, NorthWood boys cross country

Maxwell was the individual champion of the NorthWood Invitational with a top time of 16:47 in leading his team to the team championship too.

The senior setter had 76 assists to go with 26 digs and eight kills as the Kingsmen went 3-1 to take third place in the Powerball Tournament at Plymouth to move to 11-2.

Lee led her team with a round of 87 as the Kingsmen took second place in the 18-team Rochester Invitational.

Max Howk and Gabe Fulcher, South Bend Adams boys cross country

Howk and Fulcher combined to earn the individual overall championship at the Tom Miller Hokum Karem hosted by Penn.

Emily Keegan, South Bend Saint Joseph girls soccer

Senior Keegan was a key performer before being injured late in the match as the Class 2A No. 1 Huskies beat Penn 1-0 in their Northern Indiana Conference opener to remain undefeated.
