Vincent Kompany riffs on how to deal with Bayern Munich’s Sacha Boey

Despite Bayern Munich having made it clear that Sacha Boey was not in Vincent Kompany's plans for this season, the defender was unable to find a destination away from the German Rekordmeister during the summer transfer window. There was interest from Turkey and even Fulham at one point towards the end of the transfer window, but nothing wound up materializing for the Frenchmen, and he's now been forced to make do at Bayern despite being well out of favor and a surplus to requirements.

What's equally as frustrating for Boey is that both Bryan Zaragoza and João Palhinha wound up finding clubs as the other two players that Bayern made clear they would be trying to sell during the summer window. Nonetheless, Boey has at least remained increasingly professional in what's a bit of a tricky situation for the player, which the club does greatly appreciate. The plan is to reassess options in the winter transfer window to see if they can find a solution that's bet for all parties.

Ahead of Bayern's Bundesliga clash against SV Elversberg, Kompany spoke about Boey's situation and said that is always best for the club to be 100% honest and transparent with its players. "What I've seen in the past two-and-a-half years of working with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund is that the club is clear and straightforward, also in its dealings with the players. It's not always pleasant for the player, but you also gain a lot of respect from the players when you speak to them clearly and honestly. Now the transfer window is closed, and Sacha is part of our team and has our support. My role now is that he performs," he explained (via @iMiaSanMia ).

While rotations will be made by Kompany as Bayern pushes across three fronts and injuries will naturally occur over the course of the season, the Belgian can't even guarantee Boey any time with the depth Bayern has in defense. Even Kompany knows that so many different things could wind up happening between now and the start of the January transfer window. "The reality is that we have Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer in the position, and the competition is already fierce. So you need patience and hard work. But anything can happen in football if you have the right attitude. We're simply treating him with respect. He's training very well at the moment, and everything else will fall into place," Kompany stressed.
