Dante Moore and the Oregon Ducks fall 39-31 to Oklahoma State

Before the UCLA Bruins kicked off on Saturday for their Week 2 matchup versus San Diego State , the team had seen a fellow Big Ten Conference team drop a shocker. No. 6 Oregon fell on the road to Drew Mestemaker and the Oklahoma State Cowboys .

Oregon had a chance late but would ultimately fall 39-31. Former UCLA quarterback Dante Moore had a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter but Ducks running back Dierre Hill Jr. fumbled a handoff which was recovered by the Cowboys to seal the game.

Moore, one of the projected top picks in the NFL Draft, struggled against Oklahoma State . Moore completed less than half of his passes, going 14/29 through the air for 191 yards and a pair of passing touchdowns.

Ducks Wire writer Dan Smalley wrote about Oregon's shortcomings on Saturday.

"With the loss, Oregon drops to 1-1 on the season, but their ranking and national championship aspirations took a significant blow. The Ducks didn't win any phase of this game. Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker outplayed his counterpart Dante Moore . It was Mestemaker making all the plays. It was Mestemaker who made the big throws. It was Mestemaker who led his team on a scoring drive that was ultimately the difference in the game." Smalley wrote. "Not Oregon's Heisman hopeful."

UCLA and Oregon will square off in less than a month, when the Bruins head to Autzen Stadium on October 10th. Oregon went into the 2026 season with national championship aspirations but it's been tough sledding through two weeks. The Ducks held off Boise State 34-27 in Week 1 before the surprising loss on Saturday.

Oklahoma State entered the game having lost 12-straight games but the team was able to put a stop to their losing ways by upsetting Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks .
