After the exodus commenced upon the conclusion of last season, Macy Comito reaffirmed her commitment to Iowa State.
Comito originally made her commitment to the Cyclones in August of 2024, and officially signed on Nov. 12, 2025. Even if the roster is a little different (nine transfers out and eight coming in is normal, right?) Comito has been in the blueprint for a long time. Bill described her as "born to be a cyclone" as both of her parents attended Iowa State.
Macy Comito has an incredibly decorated resume at the high school level. From Carlisle, Iowa, Comito holds school records in:
Pretty good. She also earned 4A All-State honors three times, First-Team All-Iowa twice, was named All-Conference for all four years of high school, and set a Class 4A record with 42 points in one state tournament game. In the 2025-26 season, she led Carlisle to a state championship victory and was named the 2026 Iowa Class 4A Player of the Year as well as All-Tournament team captain.
Naturally, she also received a 2026 Academic All-State selection and was named to the Academic All-Conference four times, so it is safe to say that she has amassed success both on and off the court.
One of many guards on the new roster, Comito will still have to work to stand out among a roster that is bringing a lot of collegiate experience, albeit primarily from other programs. Still, her quickness, three point prowess, and defensive ability will certainly be utilized throughout the season. A court with Comito, Arriana Jackson, and Evangelia Paulk could be one of the best defensive trios in the Big-12. Iowa State averaged just 5.72 steals per game during conference play last season, which ranked 15th in the conference.
On the offensive side, Bill Fennelly has been outspoken recently about returning to the "Iowa State Way". Any longtime fan reads that and knows that the three pointers are going to be aplenty. "I don't know what the biggest green light there is, but they all have it," Fennelly stated in a recent press conference. That should be music to Comito's ears, as she will have plenty of opportunities to find open teammates beyond the arc as well as finding her own opportunities to pull the trigger from deep. A faster, more dynamic offense may also clear some more driving lanes for the offense, so it will be key to see how Comito maximises the speed and range potential of this offense as one of the point guards.
If you want to buy early in a cyclone of the future, Comito is one of the best bets you can make. Iowa State has been with Comito for her entire life, and if she can translate the success that she experienced at Carlisle over to the collegiate level? You better watch out.
