The final week of the IHSAA football regular season is upon us.

This week, The Star Press will have extended coverage of the Muncie Central Bearcats (6-2) as they host Class 5A No. 7 Lafayette Jefferson (6-2). Both teams are 4-0 in North Central Conference play with wins over Anderson, Kokomo, Marion and Richmond, setting up a matchup for the NCC championship in the regular season finale. The Bronchos have won the NCC each of the last three seasons, while the Bearcats have not won the conference since 2004. Last year's season finale presented a similar situation, and while Central was able to keep things close in the first half, Jefferson eventually pulled away for a 55-22 victory.

Elsewhere in East Central Indiana, Wes-Del (7-0) will look to finish off an undefeated regular season as it hosts Cambridge City Lincoln (0-8). Shenandoah (1-7) is also at home to host New Castle (2-6) in an Eastern Crossroads Conference matchup and the first-ever meeting on the gridiron between the two Henry County rivals. Other teams at home this week include Blackford (1-7) hosting Madison-Grant (6-2) in a Central Indiana Conference game, Winchester (4-4) hosting Union City (2-6) in a key Tri-Eastern Conference rivalry, and Yorktown (5-3) hosting Mt. Vernon (Fortville) (4-4) in a Hoosier Heritage Conference game.

Meanwhile, Delta (4-4) will play its final HHC game at Class 5A No. 4 New Palestine (5-3), while Jay County (3-5) will pay a visit to Heritage (5-3) in an Allen County Athletic Conference game. The only other East Central Indiana team on the road this week is Monroe Central (3-3), who will travel to Knightstown (6-2).
