Coaching body seeks probe into sealing drive

Jaipur: All Coaching Institute Mahasangh has sought an inquiry into the Jaipur Development Authority’s (JDA) sealing drive in Gopalpura Bypass, alleging that coaching centres with fewer than 100 students were being targeted while larger institutes continue to operate.The federation alleged that provisions of the Rajasthan Coaching Centres (Control and Regulation) Act, 2025 were being misinterpreted. It maintained that establishments with fewer than 100 students fall outside the definition of coaching centres under the Act and can operate as tuition centres, including in residential premises.“JDA action should not be selective. Several small institutes, including Pathshala and Mishti Classes, have been sealed, while only basements of larger coaching institutes have been closed. This is unfair,” said Anish Kumar Nadar, state president of the federation.He said students enrolled in smaller institutes largely came from economically vulnerable backgrounds. Coaching’s closure could force students to return home as they cannot afford fees charged by larger institutes.Deputy inspector general of JDA Vigilance Wing, Anand Sharma, said the action was being carried out in compliance with Supreme Court directions. “We have not received any specific complaint in this regard so far.
