Jaipur: More than 9,000 electric vehicles have been registered in Jaipur in 2026 till now, nearly three times the number recorded in 2023, according to data on the Parivahan Sewa website. However, EV owners said charging infrastructure had failed to keep pace, with several public charging points reportedly non-functional and facilities unreliable for intercity travel. While most owners charge their vehicles at home for daily commutes, unreliable public charging stations and a lack of chargers along highways continue to restrict their use, particularly for longer journeys.Naresh Poswal, an EV owner in Jaipur, said he continues to rely on petrol and diesel-powered vehicles for intercity travel due to lack of charging infrastructure along highways. “If I am planning to go to Kota and return, I have to rely on my petrol or diesel vehicle,” he said.Several EV owners also complained that public charging stations within the city were not always operational at locations near Tripolia Bazaar and Mansarovar.Rinku Pipalawa, another EV owner, said she had attempted to use a charging station on Shipra Path during an emergency but found it non-functional after reaching the location with a low battery. “After that experience, I rarely rely on public charging stations. I make sure my car is sufficiently charged before stepping out, and otherwise use the fuel-powered car I have as an alternative,” she said.Pipalawa too added that she preferred using a petrol or diesel vehicle for long-distance journeys because charging options along highways remained limited. The growing number of EV registrations points to increasing consumer interest in electric mobility. However, owners say lack of dependable public charging infrastructure remains a hurdle, particularly for those who need to travel beyond the city or cannot depend on home charging alone. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Jaipur | Silver Rate in Jaipur | Bank Holidays in Jaipur | Public Holidays in Jaipur | Jaipur AQI | Weather in Jaipur | Petrol Price in Jaipur | Diesel Price in Jaipur | CNG Price in Jaipur | LPG Price in JaipurStay updated with the latest Jaipur news.
