After rainy days, AP witnesses rise in the mercury

Visakhapatnam: After three to four days of rainy weather in parts of Andhra Pradesh due to a depression over Bay of Bengal, many parts of the state witnessed a rise in the mercury. While the maximum temperature rose by two to five degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature rose by one to two notches. The residents felt summer-like weather conditions on Sunday.As per the IMD, parts of the state recorded maximum temperatures between 35 °C and 40 °C on Sunday (Sept 27). Kavali town in Nellore district was the hottest in the state on Sunday at 40 °C, followed by 38.7 °C in Nellore, 38 °C in Tirupati, 37.8 °C in Ongole, 37 °C in Bapatla, 36.5 °C in Tuni, and 36 °C each in Narsapur, Jangamaheswarapuram, Kurnool and Anantapur.Rainfall occurred at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema between Saturday morning and Sunday morning. The southwest monsoon is weak over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema.Strong winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph and gusting to 50 kmph are likely at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema on Monday and Tuesday (Sept 28 and 29).
