Preparations in full swing for All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton tournament in Jaipur; national women umpires’ seminar from Sept 27

Jaipur: Preparations are in full swing for the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton tournament, to be held at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The competition will feature matches for boys and girls in the Under-15 and U-17 age groups. Singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events will be played in both categories. The competition will be held from October 1 to 9.The Rajasthan Badminton Association and organising secretary KK Sharma stated that eight Yonex courts have arrived in Pink City for the nine-day long tourney. The laying of the courts at the indoor stadium will be completed on Monday. The competition will be played on a total of 19 courts, including 11 in the badminton hall.Before the competition, a seminar for women umpires will begin on September 27, Monday. In all 46 umpires from across the country have reached the Pink City to participate in the seminar.For the seminar, technical officials of the Badminton Association of India, joint convener Rajesh Kamal, chairperson of the technical committee S Muralidharan, World Badminton Federation’s Fine C Dathan, who has umpired in the Tokyo Olympics, experienced badminton umpire Rajiv Mehta, senior Asian umpire Ballerina and Ravi Dixit have reached Jaipur.
