Michael Douglas reacted after wife Catherine Zeta-Jones said she had "no intention" of reading his memoir.

The actor explained that he lived a whole other life before they got married, which is detailed in One Helluva Ride .

Douglas' memoir was published earlier this week.

Michael Douglas really does not want wife Catherine Zeta-Jones reading his recently published memoir.

During Douglas' Thursday interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live , host Jimmy Kimmel brought up Zeta-Jones' Today interview earlier that day, during which the actress said she has "no intention of reading" about her husband.

"I wondered if you felt that was for the best," Kimmel asked on Thursday. Douglas replied, "Oh, yeah," which received some laughs from the crowd.

"Look, I mean, we got a 25-year age difference," the Wall Street actor continued. "I opened up and mentioned the book and exposed the fact that Kathleen Turner and I had an affair when we were making Romancing the Stone . Catherine was 7 years old at the time and wouldn't know her husband for 25 years ahead."

Douglas added, "I think she's had to accept the fact that having this kind of age difference, you may have had a life before you ever seen her for the first time."

Kimmel joked that Zeta-Jones thought Douglas "was a virgin" before they got married. "Correct," Douglas replied. "She told you that?"

Douglas and Zeta-Jones have been married since 2000 and share two children.

One Helluva Ride , which was published on Tuesday, includes several of Douglas' romantic trysts through the years. Many of them took place during his first marriage to Diandra Luker, to whom he was married from 1977 to 2000. Douglas has confirmed that he got several women's permission to discuss their romantic pasts before writing the memoir.

Kimmel wondered on Thursday if anyone told Douglas that he couldn't write about their relationship. "I'll never say," the Oscar winner replied.

Douglas and Turner's past affair has continued to make headlines, especially since they kept it a secret for 40 years. While appearing on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live earlier this week, Douglas revealed exactly what he said when asking for permission to publish details about their romance during production on the 1984 hit. (Turner was married to Jay Weiss from 1984 to 2007.)

"I asked her, I said, 'Look, I think it's, you know, time,'" the Fatal Attraction star explained. "Kathleen had gone through a marriage then herself and all of that, so I thought it was time to put it in because there's so many good stories and have that one included."

He added, "She said, 'Yeah.' She said, 'Fine.' So, I told that story, and then I got permission and said, 'Kathleen, do I tell the rest of some of the stories that we've had in One Helluva Ride ?' And she said, 'Okay.'"

While Douglas continues to field questions about his relationship with Turner, she is unbothered by the affair reveal.

"Good heavens what a fuss about something 40 years ago!" the actress told Entertainment Weekly 's sister site PEOPLE in a statement . "I love Michael and I look forward to enjoying the book."
