Oct. 9 (UPI) -- An Austrian mountain biker dropped 12.46 feet from an elevated platform to crush a small cardboard box with his back tire and set a world record in the process.
Mario Neurauter attempted the stunt at Bike Republic Sölden Festival in September 2025, and managed to set the Guinness World Record for the highest vertical drop on a bicycle on to a target (male).
Neurauter rode his bike off an elevated platform 12.46 over the ground and managed to land his back tire on a small red box, which he successfully crushed.
"I wasn't scared, but I knew that hitting the box would be tricky. I hadn't trained for it specifically, so I didn't know how many attempts it would take. In the end, it worked out pretty well," he told Guinness World Records.
Neurauter also attempted the Guinness World Records for the highest vertical drop on a bicycle and highest 360 vertical drop on a bicycle onto a target during the same weekend, but evidence from those attempts is still being reviewed by the record-keeping organization.
