Item Bag Expansion to Get Early - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Guide - IGN

Throughout The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo Switch 2, you’re bound to collect all sorts of items, and it’s only a matter of time before you completely fill up your inventory. Fortunately, there are a number of upgrades that you can collect to expand your capacity. You’ll collect various upgrades over the course of your adventure, where some will be rewarded for completing main quests and others will be optional. In this guide, we’ll be showcasing how to obtain some of the earlier storage upgrades so that you may comfortably carry more items over the duration of your playthrough.

The overall amount of Deku Sticks you can carry can be upgraded twice in Ocarina of Time, and you can earn both upgrades fairly quickly. Each upgrade will bring you through The Lost Woods.

For the first upgrade, enter the Lost Woods from Kokiri Forest and immediately head to the left, past a Skull Kid playing on a stump, and through a tunnel to a spot overlooking the bridge leading to Hyrule Field.

On this path, by the bridge, you’ll discover a Business Scrub, who’ll attack you by firing Deku Nuts at you. Deflect the projectile using your Deku Shield, and it’ll soon surrender. You’ll then be able to purchase a Deku Stick capacity upgrade for 40 Rupees, which will increase your maximum inventory space from 10 to 20.

For the second upgrade, you’ll first need to borrow the Skull Mask from the Happy Mask Shop in Castle Town. Then, head over to Lost Woods and search for a meadow.

Hidden within it, you’ll be able to locate the hidden grotto full of Deku Scrubs. Equip the Skull Mask, and they’ll immediately swarm you with excitement. The leader of the Deku Scrubs will then offer you the capacity upgrade, free of charge. This upgrade will increase your inventory space further by another 10 spaces, allowing you to hold up to 30 total Deku Sticks.

In order to fire more Deku Seeds from your slingshot, you can track down these bag locations in any order you choose. One them requires you to play the Shooting Gallery minigame in Castle Town. If you win the game with a perfect score, your maximum capacity will be increased to carry 40 seeds.

If you did the minigame first, the second upgrade can be found in Lost Woods. Locate the hanging target (most easily found by entering the Lost Woods from Kokiri Forest and making an immediate right turn), and shoot the center three times in a row. Upon doing so, a Deku Scrub will appear and reward you with another upgrade, further increasing your capacity to 50 seeds.
