Nitter, which let you read X posts without using X, is offline.

The GitHub page for the open source project says that, on Monday, “cease and desist letters were sent by X Corp. demanding a permanent takedown of Nitter instances and the project’s repository.” X claims Nitter unlawfully used X’s API, TechCrunch reports. Nitter was used by the service XCancel, which has also posted a message about receiving a cease and desist letter from X. Bluesky now supports videos that are up to 10 minutes long.

In contrast to Threads, Bluesky’s active user growth has trailed off lately, and as it looks to expand its big tent, it’s making one part of the experience better: video. The maximum length of videos has gone from two minutes to 10 minutes, uploads should be 2-3x faster, and file sizes can be up to 300MB. To kick things off, the official account is featuring a few longer videos like this one. [Media: https://bsky.app/profile/bsky.app/post/3mtwgs26j2c2d]

Cyberpunk + Commodore = Cyberdeck?

This Cyberpunk 2077-themed Commodore 64 Ultimate looks too good to be true. (We wound up asking if the paintjob was AI; exec Jim Squires says it’s all real.) It’s up for preorder for $377, shipping 2027, bundled with an exclusive “Arasaka” cartridge with an original demo from C64 demoscene group Arise and a chiptune OST from LukHash. Today’s Vergecast: Does smart home tech work in a college dorm?

It can be hard enough to set up smart home tech in a house or an apartment, but what about a dorm room? Nokia’s new dumbphone doubles as a smartphone charger.

As spotted earlier by GSMArena, the Nokia 300 Charge offers up to 40 days of standby power but can also serve as a power bank for your smartphone or other devices. There’s a built-in flashlight on the top of the phone, too. As if drivers in LA weren’t bad enough.

NBC News identified 43 videos that appear to show Tesla drivers asleep at the wheel, 17 of which were posted this year alone. This is, of course, a well-worn problem for Tesla, which has tried to curb the trend with stricter driver monitoring systems. But drivers are easily subverting these guardrails with sunglasses, allowing them to continue sleeping despite eye-tracking technology. John Oliver targets subscriptions.

As usual, another great segment from Last Week Tonight on corporate greed, consumer protection, and one of our favorite subjects: dark patterns. But we can’t help but notice Oliver roasts Verge alum and friend Joanna Stern for still having a fax subscription (around 10m40s in the video.) Don’t worry, we’re still ride or die, Joanna.
