Hacks’ full five-season run is coming to Blu-ray on December 8th.

HBO’s Hacks was a magnet for well-deserved Emmys, and I was personally delighted to hear that the complete series would come to Blu-ray. The set recently went up for preorder, costing $69.99 at Amazon, and includes cast screen tests, deleted scenes, bloopers, table reads, and more detailed at Blu-ray.com. Joby completes first cross-country autonomous flight.

The flight covered 3,199 miles with “zero control inputs from onboard safety pilot,” including autonomous taxi, takeoff, cruise, and landing, the company said. The modified Cessna Caravan aircraft equipped with Joby’s Superpilot autonomous flight system took off from Buchanan Field Airport in Concorde, California, and landed at Dare County Regional Airport in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. In addition to the on-board safety pilot, Joby monitored the aircraft remotely from its headquarters in California, as well as from Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina, up to 2,323 miles away. MKBHD cancels his Tesla Roadster order.

He put down $5,000, and then another $45,000, to reserve a revamped Tesla Roadster when it was first unveiled in 2017. But Tesla never got around to making one, so he decided to cancel it. The cancellation process involved multiple emails and phone calls, but eventually he got a check from Tesla... for $45,000. That’s right, they kept the $5,000 initial deposit. Another Clicks Communicator update.

Clicks is offering another updated look at the much-awaited Communicator and a couple of pleasant surprises for those who have already pre-ordered the device: more RAM, a slightly bigger battery, and Android 17 included as standard. It’s expected to ship in December to customers, and this latest video gives a more detailed look at some of the software features Clicks has been working on. The winners of Nikon’s microscopic video competition.

The annual Small World in Motion Competition has yielded another five bangers. The first place entry used a 100X magnification to capture the abnormal airway cilia inside a child with a genetic disorder affecting respiratory function. Sad, but beautiful. ABC News (Australia) has a roundup. [Media: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz3V9398LEY]

Google’s new emoji site is great.

On the Noto Emoji site, you can search for emoji, download 2D and 3D files of the (open source) emoji in different formats, and even see the original proposals that helped things get turned into emoji in the first place. (In 2019, I wrote about that proposal process for my submissions of the waffle and yawning face emoji.) I also recommend Google’s post about designing its Noto 3D emoji, it’s good stuff.
