Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy will be game-time decision for No. 4 Rebels in showdown with No. 21 Florida

Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy will be a game-time decision for the No. 4 Rebels as they visit No. 21 Florida on Saturday in another SEC matchup between top-25 teams.

Head coach Pete Golding announced Lacy's status during his Monday press conference, telling reporters ( via the Mississippi Clarion Ledger ) the injury "wasn't nearly as bad as we thought it was."

Lacey rushed for 43 yards on nine carries in Ole Miss' 32-24 win over No. 10 LSU before leaving the game in the third quarter with what appeared to be a left shoulder injury and was announced as "an upper-body injury."

Following the Rebels' victory, Golding told reporters that X-rays on Lacy's shoulder came back negative . The running back wanted to return to the game and play through the pain he was experiencing, but coaches decided to keep him on the sideline as a precautionary measure.

For the season, Lacy has rushed for 191 yards and four touchdowns on 39 carries. Last year, he had a breakout season with 1,567 rushing yards and 24 TDS on 306 carries, adding 177 yards on 29 receptions.

In Lacy's absence, freshman JT Lindsey rushed for 20 yards on four carries. The transfer from LSU will start against Florida if Lacy is unable to play. In three games, he's tallied 48 yards on 12 rushes.

Last season, Ole Miss defeated Florida 34-24 with Lacy rushing for 224 yards and three TDs on 31 carries. That performance may be why his potential absence has sportsbooks making the Gators the surprise favorites early in the week.

Despite the big win over LSU and their higher ranking in the AP Top 25 poll, the Rebels are 3.5-point underdogs to the Gators ahead of their matchup.

Informed of that by a reporter at his Monday press conference, Florida head coach Jon Sumrall quipped, " There's a lot of good drugs out there, huh? "
