CFP Playoff Bracket, Scenarios and Bowl Projections After 2026-27 Week 5 AP Rankings

The Florida Gators were handsomely rewarded for their marquee win over the Ole Miss Rebels in Sunday's AP Top 25.

Jon Sumrall's team vaulted all the way up to No. 8. The Gators are now the third-highest ranked SEC team behind the Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs, who are Nos. 1 and 2 for another week.

Ole Miss slid behind Florida to No. 9. The Rebels might have lost on Saturday, but they still have a pair of power-five wins from Weeks 1 and 3, so they shouldn't have dropped too far.

The Oregon Ducks are back inside the top 15 following their road win over the USC Trojans. They were one of a few Big Ten teams that picked up massive wins in Week 4. The Iowa Hawkeyes, who are one spot ahead of Oregon at No. 14, also won on the road.

An important entry occurred at the bottom of the AP Top 25. The Boise State Broncos, the clear favorite to be the Group of Six playoff representative, slotted in at No. 22.

The current playoff bracket is a projection based off the most-recent rankings release.

Florida's 52-point outburst against Ole Miss convinced AP voters to move it all the way up to the top 10.

The Gators skyrocketed up 13 spots in the AP poll and now have to be considered in any CFB Playoff discussion.

Life in the loaded SEC isn't easy for any program, as Florida will find out in October.

The Gators visit the Missouri Tigers in Week 5 and then they take on Texas and Georgia on October 17 and 31.

If Florida finds a way to go 2-1 in those games, it should have a clear path to the playoff as an at-large team.

A 1-2 record might even keep the Gators afloat in the playoff discussion, especially if one of those victories comes against Texas or Georgia.

Florida's schedule isn't easy, but it carries less difficulty than the schedules of other top SEC programs, who have anywhere from four to six ranked matchups across October and November.

A playoff spot has to be the goal now for Florida because of its 4-0 record, No. 8 ranking and one top-10 win over Ole Miss.

The Oregon Ducks have arguably had the most topsy-turvy start to the college football season.

Oregon won on the road at USC two weeks after it fell to the Oklahoma State Cowboys on its travels.

Dylan Raiola guided the Ducks to the victory in Los Angeles after Dante Moore exited the game with a concussion.

Having a reliable backup proved to be a massive help for the Ducks in order to get past their fellow former Pac-12 side.

The Ducks scooted up from No. 20 to No. 15 in the AP poll, a good sign for the team's playoff prospects.

Oregon should be able to stack wins in October before it heads to Columbus to face the Ohio State Buckeyes on November 7.

The clash with Ohio State might determine whether or not the Ducks feel safe inside the projected playoff field. For now, the Ducks reside in a good spot at 3-1 with room to advance in the rankings over the next month.

Boise State Enters at No. 22 as Clear G6 Favorite

Boise State is the clear favorite to earn the Group of Six berth into the CFB Playoff.

The Broncos, who entered the AP poll at No. 22, sit at 3-1 with two important nonconference victories over the Memphis Tigers and Western Michigan Broncos.

Memphis and Western Michigan were viewed as two of the top contenders to earn the G6 bid. Both of them now need Boise to lose a few games to be in contention because of head-to-head results.

Boise now has to navigate a Pac-12 schedule that is very similar to what it experienced during its time in the Mountain West.

The 22nd-ranked Broncos have a tricky road game in two weeks against the Fresno State Bulldogs, but outside of that, their schedule looks fairly easy.

Given the way it's played against G6 schools, Boise's expectation should be to finish 11-1 with a ranking inside the top 15.
