South Carolina football news: Dylan Stewart suspended indefinitely for throwing punch at Alabama player

South Carolina football head coach Shane Beamer admitted to feeling "embarrassed" after the Alabama loss. More so involving edge rusher Dylan Stewart's actions . Now the Gamecocks have punished Stewart, by suspending him indefinitely.

Beamer and the university came to a head with the decision on Sunday afternoon . College Football insider Pete Nakos adds Beamer and the program will decide on Stewart's long-term future "in the next day or two."

So this rules out Stewart officially for next Saturday's SEC contest against Kentucky. Stewart went viral for this moment during the loss to the Crimson Tide:

Beamer addressed the moment postgame and detailed what he saw.

"I saw the play that he got the penalty on. I didn't see it until just now, and that's unacceptable," Beamer said Saturday during his postgame press conference. "That's not how we do things around here. I'm embarrassed to see that because that's not what we're about."

Beamer added how he didn't see the punch from his peripheral view. But, "I knew we had a penalty. I didn't know what happened. We've got a lot of fiery, emotional, competitive guys, and I love that."

Still, Beamer knows that that type of energy can't spill over.

"When you're in the arena, emotions are high," he said. "It's okay to play with emotion, but not be emotional."

The SEC can also look closer into the incident and decide what punishment it wants to levy. But Stewart's Columbia future is now in jeopardy. Plus NFL Draft outlook too .
