Keelon Russell, Ryan Coleman-Williams Box Score Stats, Highlights from Alabama Win vs. Kentucky

The Alabama Crimson Tide used a dominant fourth quarter run to pull away for a 45-17 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats on the road, improving to 2-0 on the season.

Alabama entered Saturday's matchup as a 10.5-point favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook , as Kentucky took the Crimson Tide down to the wire on the road.

Despite early struggles from the Crimson Tide, Keelon Russell and Ryan Coleman-Williams helped Alabama rally from a one-point halftime deficit to secure a dominant 28-point victory.

The young quarterback suffered through a slow start, committing a pick-six and losing a fumble in the opening quarter.

To open their first second quarter possession, the Crimson Tide's first points came off field goals, but the quarterback's nightmare was not yet over. He committed another interception before halftime as Alabama trailed 14-13.

Alabama found its first touchdown on a running play by EJ Cromwell with 3:00 left in the third quarter before Daniel Hill added another touchdown late in the quarter as Alabama began to pull away, leading 31-17.

Russell found his connection in the end zone for the first time at the 9:08 mark of the fourth quarter, finding Rico Scott on a short, 5-yard pass. It would be his lone touchdown pass of the game despite the high-scoring performance by the Tide.

Back in January, ESPN's Matt Miller took a look at Williams' potential draft stock, noting the junior wide receiver's struggles with drops. Williams recorded 18 over his past two seasons. He also saw a dip in production when it came to finding the end zone last season, recording four touchdowns his sophomore season after eight as a freshman.

At just 19 years old, Williams would enter the 2027 NFL Draft as a freshly 20-year-old, making him one of the younger prospects in the class.

In his opening game against the East Carolina Pirates, the 6-foot wide receiver hauled in five receptions for 130 yards without a score. He added four receptions and 43 yards Saturday against Kentucky, highlighting Miller's concerns about his future in the NFL if he is unable to consistently find the end zone.

Meanwhile, sophomore quarterback Russell is not eligible for the NFL Draft until 2028. Despite this, in his first year as the Crimson Tide's go-to under center, he has already become a topic of conversation.

Russell led his team to a 48-10 season-opening win over East Carolina, completing 18-of-30 passes for 256 yards and adding a rushing touchdown. He did not record a passing touchdown in his debut for the team.

After Saturday's win and Russell's struggles with turnovers, the young passer will need to put emphasis on his play in the air moving forward if he wants to see any draft buzz surrounding him.

Despite Alabama scoring a combined 93 points through the first two games of the season, Russell has recorded just one passing touchdown. If he hopes to follow in the footsteps of Alabama's great quarterbacks of the past, he'll need to find more consistency in the passing game.

Alabama will host the Florida State Seminoles next Saturday.
