New Texas football running back Hollywood Smothers didn't have the biggest game Saturday against Ohio State . No career highs, no 100-yard day for the former North Carolina State star. His longest rush was just 11 yards.
But when UT needed him most, he went above (the Buckeye defense) and beyond (the goal line) to finish off a furious 20-point comeback by the Longhorns. Smothers' second touchdown of the night, with less than 20 second remaining, put Texas ahead for a 24-23 win over the top-ranked team in the country.
He finished the day with 21 carries for 74 yards. He also caught three passes for 29 yards.
