History! MLS sets new single-season goals record in 2026

Major League Soccer is the league of goals, with the likes of Lionel Messi , Petar Musa and other lighting up opposing nets game in and game out.

That has especially been the case in 2026, as MLS set a new single-season goals record on Wednesday night.

Lucas Halter did the honors by scoring the 1,553rd goal of the season - surpassing the previous mark of 1,552 set in 2024 - during Houston Dynamo FC 's 1-0 win at Seattle Sounders FC .

Several more goals followed on the night, and with two more Matchdays to go, this year's record may last for the foreseeable future.

But as the league of goals™, MLS will be sure to make it interesting next season and beyond.
