Even though the transfer window is shut, Liverpool have been continually linked with a whole host of players.
Their squad may be full of solid players but, if a few injuries occur, their depth isn't the best.
That has been proven by the recent injuries suffered to Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak.
With those two and Hugo Ekitike out, Liverpool only have Lewis Koumas for a striker and, while he's done fairly well when called upon, the Reds would still be much better off with a more experienced player as their number nine.
To try and resolve this issue, the Reds have been eyeing up a fair few new players and now, they may have to speed up their chase for one of their long-term targets after one of their Premier League rivals have started to show an interest.
Arsenal are ready to make their move for Gilberto Mora in the January transfer window
One thing that has been high on Liverpool's priority list when looking at new transfers has been that they're young and have plenty of potential to fulfil.
This has been proven by the recent signings of Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Giovanni Leoni .
Although each of these players are good enough to start for Liverpool, them being able to grow and become even better has been a massive selling point for the Reds.
Because, if for whatever reason the Anfield outfit wants to get rid of them, it's always nice for them to be able to profit.
However, as per a fresh update from El Porvenir , Arsenal could be about to jump ahead of Liverpool in the queue for the Mexico international.
"Premier League side Arsenal have approached Tijuana 's management to open talks about a possible signing of Gilberto Mora next January, while Manchester City's attacking midfielder, Rayan Cherki, is on Paris Saint-Germain's radar," they wrote.
"The Mexican international has a $28 million release clause in his contract and is also attracting interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica."
Liverpool must do everything they can to sign Gilberto Mora
Mora is probably only a player that most fans will have heard of because of the 2026 World Cup.
The Mexican became the second-youngest player to ever feature for his country at the World Cup with only Pele managing to beat him.
He may not have got a goal or assist during the tournament but, upon his return to Tijuana, he's been in the form of his life.
This season alone, the midfielder has featured in seven Ligan MX games for his club and has contributed to six goals.
His versatility is also a key part of his game with the 17-year-old able to play as a number 10 or a left-winger.
From the 14 October, he'll be 18 years old which will mean that he'll be able to join any club he wants so, by January, there's likely to be a huge bidding war for him.
If Liverpool are serious about getting a deal over the line for Mora , which they should be, they need to act fast because, if they don't, they'll almost certainly miss out on him.
