Akron Fan Added to College Football 27 Dynasty Mode After Winning Viral Contest to Serve as OC

Martin Whims II's first opportunity as an offensive coordinator ended in a turnover, but he is getting another chance in the college football world.

The virtual college football world, that is.

EA Sports revealed College Football 27 players can start a dynasty coaching career with Whims, who was Akron's guest offensive coordinator for its first possession of its home opener against Robert Morris this season.

Those who start a career with Whims have the immediate contract goals of beating rival Kent State, improving on last year's MAC record and winning at least 25 percent of conference games.

Whims won a promotion where a season-ticket holder was chosen to be the offensive coordinator for a possession and work alongside head coach Joe Moorhead. That possession ended in a Marcel Williams fumble, although Akron was enjoying success and driving into opposing territory prior to the turnover.

"We were moving the ball," Whims said, per Joe Reedy of the Associated Press. "The initial script that we developed was successful. So unfortunately ended with a fumble. I still think it was a success on the field, as far as the promotion goes and for the university."

For his part, Moorhead said Whims "did an unbelievable job. We spent probably an hour and a half going over the game plan, discussing the opening script. We were rolling on the third-and-short. We were lined in the wrong formation and got the penalty which put us behind the sticks and we still converted it. So don't put that on Marty, put that on me. I think that thing would've ended up in the end zone."

Fortunately for Akron, it still emerged with a 45-10 victory.
