Deion Sanders Not 'Satisfied' With Colorado's 52 Points But Hypes Julian Lewis' Historic Performance

Colorado coach Deion Sanders was not satisfied with his team's home opener despite quarterback Julian Lewis making program history in a blowout win over Weber State.

Lewis scored five touchdowns in the first half, but the Buffaloes were held to 10 points in the final two quarters of a 52-21 win over Weber State.

"We didn't capitalize on offense. We only scored 52 points... There's no way we are satisfied with the outcome," Sanders said after the win, per Oliver Hayes of the Buff Stampede.

Sanders added he felt his team letting up on offense was due to a "lack of not being there before," per Hayes .

The Colorado coach also said he was happy with the performance from Lewis, who set a program record with four first-half passing touchdowns, according to Hayes .

Lewis shared a similar message to Sanders' in his own postgame availability.

"We're definitely still not where we want to be... there's time to grow, and there's room to grow, but we're ready, and I think everybody is on the same page with that," Lewis said Saturday (h/t DNVR Buffs). "Nobody is satisfied with where we're at."

Lewis became the first quarterback in program history to throw four touchdown passes in an opening half during the Buffaloes' 52-21 win.

The 18-year-old finished the game as the first Colorado quarterback since Shedeur Sanders to put up at least 350 passing yards and four touchdowns without an interception, per ESPN Insights .

Colorado's defense and special teams didn't have nearly as successful of a night.

The Buffaloes allowed three touchdowns and gave up 372 total yards to their FCS opponents. Colorado's special teams were flagged for multiple penalties after previously struggling in the team's Week 1 win over Georgia Tech.

Sanders said ahead of Saturday's game he was "not concerned" about his special teams because in part because he planned to change up his personnel. There could be more changes coming as the Buffaloes look to make more improvements before returning to action next Saturday at Northwestern.
