NBC's "Sunday Night Football" broadcast for Week 9's matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears will have a different voice on the play-by-play call.

Mike Tirico will miss Sunday night's telecast "due to a health issue," he announced in a statement. Noah Eagle will replace him on play-by-play, alongside regular analyst Cris Collinsworth and reporter Melissa Stark. ( Eagle called Saturday's Notre Dame-Miami game as NBC's No. 1 college football announcer.)

"Unfortunately, I will have to miss tonight's game in Chicago due to a health issue," Tirico said in a statement through NBC. "I look forward to watching tonight and can't wait to be back with Cris, Melissa and the rest of our 'SNF' team next Sunday night in Cincinnati."

Tirico, 59, will have to wait one more week to call the 300th NFL broadcast of his acclaimed career. He became NBC's primary play-by-play announcer for "Sunday Night Football" in 2022, taking over for Al Michaels. He filled in on several "SNF" telecasts before that while Michaels took "bye weeks" during the 2020 season to minimize travel.

Previously, Tirico had replaced Michaels on "Thursday Night Football" broadcasts when NBC had that rights package during the 2017 season.

Tirico's previous 299 broadcasts include NFL regular-season and playoff games. Last season, Tirico announced his first Super Bowl , calling the Seattle Seahawks' 29-13 win over the New England Patriots from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

During his more than 30 years in broadcasting, Tirico has called virtually every kind of sporting event including college football, college basketball, golf, NBA, tennis, soccer, hockey and the Olympics, in addition to anchoring studio coverage for ESPN and NBC.

"He is truly one of one," "Sunday Night Football" coordinating producer Rob Hyland told The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain .

While this is the first "SNF" broadcast Tirico will miss for NBC, he had to bow out of the network's Kentucky Derby coverage last year due to an allergic reaction to nuts.
