Myles Garrett shows Rams why they traded for him in return vs. Commanders
The star pass rusher was all over the field.
Myles Garrett's career with the Los Angeles Rams got off to a rough start, as he had a bad game in Week 1 and then missed the next seven games with an injury. However, the real Garrett finally arrived in Los Angeles in Week 9.
As the Rams beat the Washington Commanders 20-13 on Sunday afternoon, Garrett's performance was a big reason why. The pass rusher made several huge plays that reminded everyone why Los Angeles acquired him from the Cleveland Browns .
Now that the Rams are 5-4, they have a runway for success down the stretch to shake off a slow start. Garrett's return should only ignite this defense as the team looks to once again make a push for a Super Bowl in the playoffs.
Here's how Garrett dominated against Washington.
Garrett made three plays on Sunday, but they were all huge as they went for sacks on quarterback Jayden Daniels. In fact, his first one even went for a strip-sack, as Garrett forced the turnover on Daniels at the end of the first half.
Garrett's second sack came to start the fourth quarter, with the Rams up seven points on the Commanders. Daniels dropped back on 2nd-and-9, but the pass rusher got to him for a big loss to make the third down an even tougher task.
Finally, Garrett's third sack helped Los Angeles ice the game away, as he got to Daniels on 3rd-and-5, which led to a Commanders turnover on downs.
All of a sudden, the Rams trade for Garrett once again looks good. Not only did Garrett play a huge role in Los Angeles improving to over-.500 for the first time this season, but the pass rusher's three sacks also surpassed Jared Verse's total in the process.
Verse was, along with multiple first-round picks, the focal point of the package that went from the Rams to the Browns in the Garrett deal. However, Verse has no sacks this season despite playing in all nine Saints games.
Now that Garrett looks healthy, he has a chance to be one of the most impactful players in the NFL during the second half.
