‘There’s Overreactions’: Aaron Rodgers Silences Talking Heads in Win over Bengals

PITTSBURGH — There were a slew of negative headlines throughout last week after the Pittsburgh Steelers ' ugly 20-3 loss to the New England Patriots . There was even a report that the Steelers were going through a Mike Tomlin hangover .

The Steelers certainly quieted the noise with their 30-27 upset over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

It just shows any given Sunday. Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers pointed out in his postgame interview that there's a lot overreaction in today's media.

"Listen, I know the media day and age that we're in there's overreactions when we put up 3 points and look like dog you know what," Rodgers said. "We had a nice game today. We put up over 400 yards and 30 points, and it could have been a lot more. But every week is a different week, different challenge, different opponent, different defense."

Coming into Sunday's game, the Steelers accumulated 499 yards, which ranked 30th in the NFL, and the Tennessee Titans follow with just 486 yards, which is 31st in the NFL.

To put that in perspective, Steelers punter Cameron Johnston leads the NFL with 579 yards on 12 punts, which also leads the league, and Titans punter Tommy Townsend is third in the league with 529 yards on 11 punts.

The Steelers looked abysmal on offense to start the season, but they were hitting on all cylinders against Cincinnati.

Making changes on the offensive line paid off big .

Rookie right tackle Max Iheanachor and guard Brock Hoffman started on the right side on Sunday. They replaced — Dylan Cook and Spencer Anderson — who reportedly has a broken bone in his right leg — respectively.

Rodgers completed 19 of 34 passes (55.9%) for 292 yards with three touchdowns, one interception, and a passer rating of 101.6

Rodgers got ripped by Skip Bayless earlier this week. The prominent sports media figure said the four-time NFL MVP was washed .

" Aaron Rodgers is washed. I have to keep saying this, and I don't hear people in the media say it at all," Bayless said.

"He should've retired four years ago after his final year in Green Bay. For four years he's been done, and I've said it for four years. He's just completely over the hill. He's lost his poise and guts in the pocket; he won't stand in; he just tries to dink-and-dunk; he's a turnover machine."

That's a perfect example of an overreaction after just one bad game in Week 2 of the season.

Rodgers certainly silenced Bayless on Sunday.
