Shilo Sanders may have another city on his house-hunting list. After weeks of checking out expensive properties across South Florida, Deion Sanders’ son is now considering New York. The former Colorado safety recently revealed his plans during a YouTube video, and the city's high living costs do not seem to have scared him away. When a New Yorker warned him about the prices, Shilo had a rather casual response. He has already had his share of expensive property tours in Florida. However, his search for a new home comes while he continues to fight an $11.89 million judgment in bankruptcy court. Shilo Sanders wants to check out New York after turning down Miami rentalsShilo made his New York plans clear in a YouTube video on his channel while spending time in West Palm Beach. During a conversation with a man from New York, he revealed that he wanted to visit the city and look at properties.“I’m actually going to go out there and do a house hunt video there ’cause I’m trying to look in New York. Should I move there?” Shilo asked. The man immediately warned him about the city's expensive lifestyle. But Shilo was not ready to back away from the idea.“That’s fine, bro. Yeah, I already live here. It can’t get too much worse than this,” he replied. The conversation then moved to taxes, food and the city's 24-hour lifestyle. The New Yorker pointed out that having something to do at any hour was one of the biggest attractions of living there. However, New York is not the first place Shilo has considered. He has spent several weeks looking at properties in Florida, particularly Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Some of those tours did not go as planned.During his recent house hunt, Shilo checked out rentals priced at $14,000, $11,000 and just under $10,000 per month. One Miami property caught his attention because of its river views and downtown location. But the $14,000 monthly rent quickly ended his interest. He also made it clear that he was tired of the prices during another property search.“I ain’t going to keep playing around with these Miami prices, bro, and I’m going to Texas,” he said in one of his house-hunting videos. His younger brother, Shedeur Sanders, even offered to help with a down payment. Shilo joked that if Shedeur bought him a house, it would probably cost at least $2 million. He has also mentioned that around $6,000 would be his preferred monthly price range. Shilo Sanders house hunt continues while $11.89 million bankruptcy case awaits rulingWhile Shilo looks at his next home, his financial situation remains under scrutiny in court. The 26-year-old is still fighting to discharge an $11.89 million judgment awarded to former high school security guard John Darjean. The dispute goes back to September 17, 2015, when Shilo was 15. He got into an altercation with Darjean at his school in Dallas. Darjean later sued him over injuries he said he suffered during the incident. Shilo did not appear at the 2022 civil trial, and the court entered a default judgment of $11,890,937 against him.In October 2023, Shilo filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. He wants the judgment discharged, but Darjean argues that the injuries resulted from a willful and malicious act. That distinction could determine whether bankruptcy law allows Shilo to erase the debt. The two sides presented their arguments during a five-day trial in Denver from August 31 to September 4, 2026. Shilo maintained that he acted in self-defense. Judge Michael Romero also raised concerns about missing surveillance footage during the proceedings.“It just appears real obvious that there is some missing video that no one seems to have been able to find,” Romero said during the bankruptcy trial. The judge has yet to issue a ruling. Following a delay in the submission of post-trial briefs, the deadline for final written arguments moved from November 16 to December 21, 2026. A decision is now expected in January 2027 or later. As of now, Shilo has another property search on his mind. After turning down several expensive Florida rentals, he could soon take his search to New York. Whether he finds a home there or decides to return to Texas, his next move remains one to watch.Get the latest Sports News and Live updates. Download the TOI app.
