Daniel Jones' Future as Colts QB1 Addressed By HC After Being Benched for Anthony Richardson in Loss
The Indianapolis Colts are officially a mess.
The Indianapolis Colts are officially a mess.
On Sunday, after trading away guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, the team was walloped by the Jacksonville Jaguars, 42-7. That included quarterback Daniel Jones being replaced by Anthony Richardson Sr. in the fourth quarter after throwing a pair of interceptions in the loss.
And Jones' starting position is no longer guaranteed, as head coach Shane Steichen hinted:
In eight games this season, Jones has thrown for 1,542 yards, five touchdowns and nine interceptions.
If Jones is benched, it likely won't be the only massive change still to come in Indianapolis, with star running back Jonathan Taylor reportedly on the trade block as well. Steichen is also on the hot seat, and losing a number of veteran contributors—or benching them—isn't going to make his job any easier.
