Vikings coach sends message after Lions’ Jack Campbell suffers scary injury
The linebacker left the field on a stretcher after colliding with a teammate trying to make a tackle.
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell sent a heartfelt message to Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell, who was carted off the field with a scary injury in their game Sunday, Nov. 1.
The Lions' Pro Bowl linebacker was taken off the field on a stretcher during the Week 8 game after he was hurt while trying to tackle T.J. Hockenson.
"We're all thinking and praying for Jack Campbell," O'Connell said after the game. "I asked Dan after the game if he had any update. He didn't have much of one, but it's definitely something that you hate seeing.
"Still hard to talk about the result when you see something like that."
Campbell and defensive end Eric O'Neill both hit Hockenson at the same time and Campbell appeared to get bent backwards as he fell to the ground. Campbell was motionless on the field as he was attended to.
In his own postgame remarks, the Lions' head coach, Dan Campbell, said Jack Campbell "is being taken care of. We don't have any new information. We'll keep you updated as this goes." MORE: Former Raiders running back, Super Bowl champion, dies
Another Lions linebacker, Derrick Barnes, was also unaware of his teammate's condition when he spoke to reporters after the game.
"I don't know even know what's going on, but I'm going to be there to support him," Barnes said. "When you see your brother go down like that, there's a fire that gets lit … that says it's time to go, really."
